I wrote and produced The Sonic Lens, a radio show created on behalf of The Floor Magazine that airs on Oroko Radio. Designed as an extension of the magazine’s editorial work, the show transforms written articles into immersive audio experiences, blending deep-dive discussions with curated soundscapes. Each episode takes a featured piece from The Floor Magazine and expands it into a rich, multi-layered listening experience, combining narration, interviews, and carefully selected music to bring the themes to life. By fusing analysis with sonic storytelling, The Sonic Lens creates an engaging format where journalism and music intersect, offering audiences a fresh way to experience cultural commentary.

One standout episode, Why Don’t They Pine Like They Used To: An Exploration of Love and Toxicity in Male R&B, exemplifies the show’s approach. It reimagines an article exploring shifts in R&B’s emotional landscape, using a curated playlist to illustrate key arguments about love, vulnerability, and masculinity in the genre. By weaving together spoken-word insights with classic and contemporary tracks, the episode becomes more than just a discussion—it’s an experience that allows listeners to hear and feel the evolution of R&B in real time. Through The Sonic Lens, I aimed to push storytelling beyond the page, creating a space where music and conversation blend seamlessly to deepen the audience’s understanding of cultural shifts.
